The Supplier Quality and Development (SQD) department is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual to fulfill a co-op student position, starting in the Spring of 2018.
Co-ops have a unique opportunity to apply their academic learning within an organization that delivers innovative safety products that protect lives in communities around the world. The SQD co-op will interact with multiple functions including supply chain, new product development engineering, quality engineering and suppliers. The co-op will gain an appreciation and understanding of Supplier Quality Management tools that drive best-in-class supplier capabilities, delivery, quality and cost.


Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to act independently, take initiative, and follow assignment through to completion
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment.
Education and experience required:
- Incumbent should be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Plastics or other Engineering related discipline, preferably from an ABET-accredited school,  and have completed at least two semesters prior to beginning this opportunity.



Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working closely with design engineers and suppliers to process Supplied Part Approvals for new product development and product revisions
- Collaborating with Supplier Quality and Development, Plant Quality and Engineering to support product issue resolution
- Facilitating structured problem solving individually and with engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to effectively resolve product quality issues and new product supplied product delays
- Improving and designing department and organization processes, tools, and training materials to improve effectiveness and efficiency of processes, analyzing data and generating meaningful reports that drive action
