Overview

The Software Development group has a need for a co-op student, starting in the spring of 2018.
 
Working alongside experienced engineers, co-ops have a unique opportunity to apply their academic learning to products that protect lives in communities around the world. The Software Development Team co-op will gain an appreciation and understanding of software development and methods to ensure software quality, including verification.
 
The co-op will support MSA's software development process through any of the following activities: 

Qualifications

- Technical knowledge and aptitude and strong interest for programming, evaluating, and testing code. Specifically, it is preferred for the candidate to have embedded software experience or interest, and scripting experience (Python)
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills and a sharp attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment.
 
Education and experience required:
 
- Incumbent must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software or Computer Engineering, preferably at an ABET-accredited school, and must have completed at least two semesters prior to beginning this opportunity
Preferred:
- Programming experience with C, Python & Java.
- Exposure with GIT & RTOS tools.

Responsibilities

- Working closely with Software Quality Engineering team to evaluate existing software projects, and create test systems and tools to support these projects.
- Design test systems, write supporting embedded and application software, and create test scripts.
- Collaborating with engineers from multiple project teams to evaluate needs and help support software development quality
- Solve problems independently, identify issues and needs, propose solutions.
