Overview

The Supplier Quality and Development (SQD) department is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual to fulfill a co-op position, starting in the Summer of 2018.
 
Co-ops/interns have a unique opportunity to apply their academic learning within an organization that delivers innovative safety products that protect lives in communities around the world. The SQD co-op will interact with multiple functions including supply chain, new product development engineering, quality engineering and suppliers. The co-op will gain an appreciation and understanding of Supplier Quality Management tools that drive best-in-class supplier capabilities, delivery, quality and cost. The selected candidate will also develop strong problem solving skills while assisting the department through 8D problem solving on key supplier-related quality issues.
 

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Working closely with design engineers and suppliers to process Supplied Part Approvals for new product development and product revisions
  • Collaborating with Supplier Quality and Development, Plant Quality and Engineering to support product issue resolution
  • Facilitating structured problem solving individually and with engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to effectively resolve product quality issues and new product supplied product delays
  • Improving and designing department and organization processes, tools, and training materials to improve effectiveness and efficiency of processes, analyzing data and generating meaningful reports that drive action

Qualifications

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to act independently, take initiative, and follow assignment through to completion
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment.

Education and experience required:

  • Incumbent must be be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (preferably from an ABET-accredited program)
  • Must have completed at least one semester of sophomore year.
