    Established in 1914, MSA is the world's leading manufacturer of safety products designed to protect people throughout the world. Working alongside experienced engineers, co-ops have a unique opportunity to apply their academic learning to products that protect lives in communities around the world. This position reports to the Manager of Advance Quality and is responsible for supporting the Quality Engineers and group's respective projects. The need for a project may arise as a result of an new product development team's activity, supplier issue, or a customer-related issue. The student will work cross-functionally with a number of disciplines to determine root cause and ensure that effective corrective actions are in place for each issue. The Quality Engineer co-op will contribute to the operational excellence at MSA by collaborating on the following tasks:

    Responsibilities

    • Support the Quality Engineers and their day-to-day projects
    • Co-lead quality-related investigations resulting from new product development, customer issues, or supplier issues
    • Update and maintain the group's Wiki and JIRA spaces
    • Analyze and report upon global data including Engineering Change Management, Warranty, Quality Notifications
    • Support the manufacturing facilities in the area on an as-needed basis for quality-related issues

    • Support the Customer Solutions Engineering team and help to investigate root cause and corrective actions for various projects
    • Participate in continuous improvement projects

     

    Qualifications

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, solve technical problems, and work efficiently in cross functional team.
    • Strong computer skills including Minitab, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
    • Knowledge of statistical tools and their application
    • Project management skills

    Education and experience required:

    • Incumbent must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or other relevant Engineering degree, from an ABET-accredited program, and have completed at least one semester of sophomore year.
